چکیده
Abstract The application of adhesives in modern timber engineering often introduces moisture into the wood, leading to permanent residual stresses after hardening. This paper proposes a novel approach assess these by using wooden bilayers as reporter system. For thin bilayers, moisture-induced lead pronounced visible flexion that can be used identify stress-driving parameters adhesive’s gelation process. These depend solely on wood/adhesive combination and are inversely determined fitting finite element method model experimentally obtained state. In subsequent step, calculate adhesive bondline cross-laminated plates, emphasizing this approach’s scale independence general applicability larger structures. All combinations European beech Norway spruce with Melamine–Urea–Formaldehyde (MUF), Phenol–Resorcinol–Formaldehyde (PRF), Polyurethane (PUR) were investigated.

متن کاملComputational Models of Adhesively Bonded Joints
Simulations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) play an increasingly important role in the design process of joints and fasteners in the aerospace industry. In order to utilize the potential of such adhesive bonding, there is an increasing need for effective and accurate computational methods. The geometry and the nature of an adhesive joint are, however, not so simple to describe effectively...
متن کاملDesign Analysis of Adhesively Bonded Structures
The existing analytical solutions for the peeling and shearing stresses in polymeric adhesively bonded structures are either too inaccurate or too complex for adoption by practicing engineers. This manuscript presents a closed-form solution that is reasonably accurate yet simple and concise enough to be adopted by practicing engineers for design analysis and exploration. Analysis of these conci...
